QEW Niagara-Bound Weekend Lane & Ramp Closures
Saturday, June 13 at 1:00 AM to Monday, June 15 at 5:00 AM
A partial weekend closure of the QEW Burlington Bay Skyway (Niagara-bound) is scheduled from early Saturday morning to early Monday morning.
Lane Closures & Traffic Configuration
- One (1) middle lane (lane 3 of 4) on the Skyway Bridge will be closed for the full duration.
- Two (2) lanes of through traffic will remain open along the mainline QEW.
- One (1) lane to the Burlington Skyway will remain accessible via the Eastport Drive collector ramp.
- Lane widths will be reduced in the work zone and “Narrow Lane” signage will be in place.
Ramp Closures & Access
- The Eastport Drive / collector ramp to the Skyway bridge will be:
- Closed Saturday: 1:00 AM – 7:00 AM
- Closed Sunday night to Monday morning: 8:00 PM – 5:00 AM
(to accommodate temporary barrier relocation)
- All ramps at the Northshore Blvd. interchange will remain open.
- Eastport Drive will remain fully open as an alternate route to re-enter the QEW Niagara-bound.
Travel Advisory
During highway closure weekends, travelers heading to the Niagara region are encouraged to consider GO Train service as an alternative to driving. GO Transit can help avoid congestion and delays associated with construction activity. Please check gotransit.com for schedules and service updates before travelling.

QEW Burlington Bay Skyway

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Alliance Verdi Civil Inc. (contractor) to undertake the rehabilitation of the 2.2 km QEW Burlington Bay Skyway Niagara bound bridge, and illumination upgrades in both directions of the QEW, from north of Northshore Boulevard to south of the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge, in the City of Burlington and City of Hamilton. This project will extend the service life of the QEW Niagara bound lanes.
AECOM Canada ULC has been retained by MTO to provide construction administration and oversight of this project.
Construction started in May 2024 and is anticipated to be completed December 2026.
